President Goodluck Jonathan recently appointed Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru as Foreign Affairs Minister and Prof. Viola Adaku Onwuliri as Minister of State respectively.

Ambassador Ashiru was a retired career diplomat who had served as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa and Ambassador to North Korea in addition to serving in other Nigerian diplomatic posts.  He is an astute and experienced diplomat (see C.V.).

The new Minister of State, Prof. Onwuliri was, prior her appointment, a professor of biochemistry in one of the Nigerian universities (see C.V.).
